Motts Body Repair Ltd
Terms and conditions for ESTIMATES & REPAIRS. (Please note items 2,5 and 22 as they have special relevance if you are having restoration work done.)
- Agreement to any estimate provided by e-mail, verbal or telephone will be deemed acceptance by the Customer for Motts Body Repair Ltd to carry out repairs at the agreed time.
- If it becomes apparent during the work, that extra costs will be incurred to complete the repair to a satisfactory standard, then the customers agreement will be sought prior to continuing.
- All repairs will be completed according to the National Body Repair Association (NBRA) guidelines and code of practice. Details are available on request.
- It is the customers responsibility to make Motts Body Repair Ltd aware of any previous repairs to the vehicle. In any case Motts Body Repair Ltd will not accept any responsibility for previous repair work not carried out by Motts Body Repair Ltd, whether apparent before or during the course of any repair work. Such work is exempt from any guarantees provided by Motts Body Repair Ltd.
- No responsibility is taken for any existing corrosion to repaired panels. It is also exempt from any guarantees provided by Motts Body Repair Ltd.
- Where investigative or diagnostic work is required, before an estimate can be given, a financial limit for this work will be agreed before any further expense is incurred.
- The definition of an estimate is ‘the anticipated cost for the work required’. In the event further work or parts are required, the estimate cost may be increased. If an increase is required, the customers agreement will be sought.
- A quotation is defined a ‘an all-inclusive fixed cost for the job as described’ and may not be increased.
- Cancellations must be made with more than 24 hours’ notice or may be subject to a cancellation charge of £50 plus VAT.
- If non-refundable parts have been ordered and the customer does not show for the repair, the customer will be responsible for their costs at retail price plus VAT.
- There are no charges applicable for work that is re-scheduled to a mutually convenient time, providing 24 hours’ notice is given.
- All bodywork repairs are guaranteed for 3 years against faulty workmanship or incorrect application of repair products. Aftercare instructions will be provided by Motts Body Repair Ltd after the repairs are completed and must be followed to ensure the durability of any repairs.
- Repairs to textured plastic body trim is not guaranteed. Damage caused by the use of acid cleaners and brake dust corrosion is not covered under the guarantee for alloy wheel repairs.
- Motts Body Repair Ltd cannot guarantee that all evidence of previous damage to paint caused by tree sap, bird lime or other surface contaminants will be removed by machine polishing.
- A copy of the original invoice is required before any work under the terms and conditions of the guarantee will be undertaken.
- For extensive restoration work an up- front payment may be requested. In addition, weekly ‘interim’ invoice payments may be requested as the work progresses.
- Payment is required upon satisfactory completion of repairs and at the point of vehicle collection for non – account customers. For account customers, payment will be required within 30 days.
- The preferred method of payment is by credit or debit card, but we do not accept American Express. Payment by cheque is at the discretion of Motts Body Repair Ltd.
- In the event payment is not forthcoming after 30 days, Motts Body Repair Ltd may chose to go through the Small Claims Court and mediation to recover monies owed. One-time charges of £40.00 plus VAT will be applied for amounts up to £999.99, £70.00 plus VAT for amounts between £1000 to £10,000 and £100 plus VAT for amounts over this.
- Alternatively, a debt collection agency may be instructed to recover the outstanding balance, their charges, usually 20% of the amount owed, will be added to the customers invoice along with the onetime charge detailed in section 19 above.
- Further charges relating to storage of the vehicle may be applied. See note 25
- Interest charges at the Current Bank of England base rate may also be applied to the unpaid invoice sent to the owner in the event of non-payment.
- ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERIES. Electric cars must be delivered to us fully charged. We DO NOT take any responsibility for battery conditions or failure whilst your vehicle is with us for repair. If we must put any charge into an electric car battery that has been left with us, there will be an immediate £50 + VAT surcharge added to your final invoice.
- COURTESY VEHICLES. We offer courtesy vehicles free of charge. We expect these to used and treated with respect. If you incur any parking tickets or fines whilst you are using our vehicles, you are responsible for payment of these and we will forward details to you, as and when appropriate. If we have to valet a vehicle when returned to us or fill it with fuel as it has not been refuelled, there will be an immediate £50 + VAT surcharge added to your invoice. You need to provide a copy of your driving licence to be insured on our company policy, failure to produce a copy of this will unable you to have one of our vehicles or you will need to arrange your own insurance policy. You will also be liable for the excess on our policy of £1000 should any claims needs to made against it.
- INSURANCE. Vehicles left at Motts Body Repair Ltd are covered by our insurance policy, form the time the vehicle has been left on site, whilst the repair is carried out and for a further week upon completion of the repair. If you do not collect your vehicle within 1 week of us notifying you the repair is ready, our insurance will NO longer cover you for any theft, damage or other incidents that may arise whilst on our site. We do offer an extended policy to cover your vehicle for longer if you need to leave it with us and this is in the form of a storage charge. This can be negotiated in the form of a daily, weekly, or monthly fee and we reserve the right to make these charges any time after 1 week notification from us that your vehicle is ready.
- OFFSITE OUTDOOR STORAGE TERMS & CONDITIONS.
26.1 When your vehicle repairs are complete, you have 7 working days to make full payment and collect your vehicle. If you fail to make payment or collect your vehicle after 7 working days we may need to move your vehicle to an offsite outdoor storage facility of which you will be liable for a daily storage fee.
26.2 Payment for vehicle storage will be due on collection of the vehicle. No vehicle can be released without payment of cleared funds and the full payment for repairs carried out must also have been paid.
26.3 We do not provide insurance and we recommend that you keep your existing insurance policy active while your car is in storage. You will need to notify your insurance company that your vehicle is in storage.
26.4 We refuse to accept any liability for damaged caused from the weather or environment, namely paint fading from UV rays, corrosion from exposure to rain, interference from birds and any other issues arising from outdoor storage.
26.5 Fees are available upon request.
26.6 All confidential information is held securely and not passed to third parties and only used in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
Where Motts Body Repair Ltd have undertaken work that required wheels to be removed, the nuts will have been replaced using the manufacturers torque setting. It is the owners responsibility to check the wheel nut tightness after 50 miles.
